In Japanese, there's a word that is absolutely wonderful. Ganbaru. In essence, it means to do beyond your best, melding luck and all-in effort. It was a bit of a samurai thing, and a word of encouragement to modern Japanese. Honestly though, you ought to google this one, there's pages and pages of nuanced meaning with it. But you get the jist.
The foxes are a great way to dig deeper into the Japanese spirit, and remind yourself to be fleet of foot, and clever of mind.
Ganbaru is printed on the left leg in traditional Japanese vertical script, a subtle way to remind you that every day can be improved with better effort.
Ganbatte, friends!
